Memories from the 1971 War

Image
Dad ! I was very young during the 1971 war—too small to fully understand the gravity of the times, but old enough for the memories to leave a lasting mark. My father was in the army, posted in Jalandhar, and we lived in a house close to the air force base. Nights were tense. The air raid siren would inevitably sound, and we’d quickly take shelter in trenches near our home. I remember how frequently my father was on emergency duty at the military hospital, sometimes gone the entire night. Through my child’s eyes, the rifle fire looked like bursts of colored light, almost surreal. Massive aircraft often flew low over our house, their presence both awe-inspiring and ominous. Oddly enough, we were never truly afraid. The strong, reassuring presence of my father—and many relatives who were also in the armed forces—gave us a sense of security amidst the chaos. Two incidents from that time remain etched in my memory. One night, a group of Pakistani paratroopers mistakenly landed behi...

As August ends today

Image
— Ajaya Bajpai  As August whispers its soft goodbye,   The twilight lingers in the evening sky.   With golden hues that fade to gray,   We pause to reflect as August ends today. Fields once vibrant now hush in calm,   Nature's embrace, a soothing balm.   Memories dance on the breeze's sway,   Embracing the lessons from summer's play. Each sunset captured, a fleeting light,   A tapestry woven of day and night.   In the warmth of the sun, we've laughed and wept,   Holding the moments we've cherished and kept. The cool winds beckon change to unfold,   With hints of fall in the stories untold.   So let us be grateful, in this fleeting stay,   For all that we've learned, as August ends today. With hearts wide open, we gaze ahead,   Trusting the journey, wherever it's led.   For in every ending, new beginnings lay,   As the canvas of life p...

Our Earth , Our Environment                           - Ajaya Bajpai  In honour of the Earth,  we stand, On World Environment Day,  hand in hand. A planet of wonder, beauty,  and grace, In its embrace,  we find our place. From forests deep  to oceans wide, In nature's symphony,  we take pride. Each leaf, each creature,  each breath we take, A fragile balance  we must not forsake. Let's plant the seeds  of change today, For a greener tomorrow,  come what may. Reduce, reuse, recycle,  we must do our part, To protect the Earth,  our home and heart. So let's unite  in a global voice, To make eco-friendly choices  our daily choice. On World Environment Day,  let's renew our vow, To preserve, protect,  and cherish it now.

Relationships

Image
In the tapestry of life, relationships weave, Threads of connection, a bond that won't deceive. Like a dance of souls, in harmony we sway, Navigating all highs and lows along the way. Love, the foundation on which it all rests, A flame that burns bright, putting hearts to the test. Through laughter and tears, we learn and grow, Supporting each other, helping hearts to glow. Friends, like stars scattered across the night sky, Guiding us through darkness, never asking why. Through thick and thin, they remain by our side, In their presence, we find solace and pride. Family, a tapestry woven with care, Rooted in love, a bond that's always there. Through thick and thin, they stand strong and true, A shelter in storms, a love that's tried and true. Relationships, a tapestry of colors so vast, Each thread unique, a story that lasts. Through forgiveness and understanding, we find, true beauty -that lasts. So let us cherish the relationships we hold dear, Nurture ...

Beauty of Nature

Image
In the realm where nature's beauty lies, A tapestry of wonder before our eyes. The sun's golden rays dance upon the trees, As gentle whispers sway in the breeze. Majestic mountains touch the sky, Their peaks so high, they seem to fly. Rivers flow with a graceful ease, Reflecting the colors of flowers and trees. Fields of green, where wildflowers bloom, Their vibrant hues dispelling gloom. Birds sing melodies, sweet and clear, Their songs of joy, we long to hear. The ocean's waves crash upon the shore, A symphony of sound forevermore. Sandy beaches, kissed by the tide, Where footprints fade with the rising tide. Nature's beauty, a gift so grand, A masterpiece crafted by nature's hand. Let us cherish and protect this treasure, For it brings us joy beyond measure. Ajaya Bajpai

Books our friends

Image
The World book day, set me thinking about all the wonderful books that I happened to peruse. To put it simply its an eclectic mix of beautifully scripted classics; books that entrall with their mystique, plots twists and turns. Books like those of P.G Woodehouse leave you laughing aloud after every two sentences or more. Comics of Tintin with all the phrases of 'Thundering Typhoons/ Blistering Barnacles' and the lovable Snowy have left an impact. Talking about Tintin, how can one forget about the inimitable Asterix and Obelix and of course all the Archie books. Here are a few of my Favourite books, in random order:- Blandings Castle and Elsewhere by PG Wodehouse Humorous and deft its all beautifully interwoven amongst the empress of Blandings- the prize pig, Clarence- The ninth Earl of Emsworth-, his sister lady Constance and a sweet girl from London... The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini The Kite Runner is easily divided into three main sections:...

Little things that matter

Image
So many people feel that little things like getting a small handmade card on a special day, or getting complimented for work done well can be taken for granted. Saying the three magical words - please , thank you and sorry can just about resolve any issue. There’s always the eternal wait for something big or dramatic to happen wherein, they turn out to be the saviors or hero of the day!Ha! keep  waiting.  Do everything that you do, with love and to the best of your ability. Do it because it gives you pleasure! not because of the praise or laurels that you will get for work done well . Even at your home, this should be the driving force. Something to ponder over... Today I was shopping for grocery in a supermarket. There were people of all kinds: -breaking queues with a sic kind of panache, -people putting things at random in their trolleys, -some taking a limited amount of things after a great consideration and comparison. Among all this hurry blurry a small six or s...
