Vastu and main door of house and it’s decorations.

The main door should ideally be made with strong wood. Read on till the end, wherein I have mentioned the materials and colours of main door depending on the direction. It goes without saying that environment should be pristine, there should be no clutter of any sort.
Decorate the main door of the house with torans, espcially during festivals and special events Use of torans made of fresh flowers is also good for, main door decorations. According to Vastu, toran on the main door is auspicious and it attracts good fortune. Toran is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Torana,’ which means to ‘pass.’ The main door torans play a significant role in balancing energies of the house and not allowing evil energies inside the house.
Hang a toran made of mango leaves and marigold flowers on the main door to attract wealth and peace. Change it when leaves and flowers dry.
Toran designed with 108 Panchmukhi Rudraksha beads helps in spiritual as well as material success.
Toran made from leaves of Ashoka drives off evil energy.
The main door can also be decorated with toran made of seashells to remove Vastu dosha and bring good luck. Today one gets fancy torans and bandhanwars made from cloth, gemstones, pearls, shubh labh toran with tiny bells, Kalash and swastika design etc. Opt for torans in auspicious colours such as yellow, orange, red and green.
With the availability of yet new kinds of product, some people hang lighted brass vessels strung together- as a toran. Generally small tea lights are placed within these brass vessels.
Another way to decorate the house frontage is placing a vessel filled with water at the main door, it keeps away negative energy which in turn keeps all family members healthy. The name uruli is derived from the Tamil word 'Urulai' which means round.Traditionally uruli's were used for cooking and making Ayurvedic medicines
Placing any intricately carved vessel -uruli as we call them, filled with water, interspersed with floating candles and flowers is very aesthetically appealing too.
Do not keep statues of animals, trees without flowers and other figurines near the main door. The main door should always have a threshold, (marble or wood), as it is believed that it absorbs negative vibes and allows only positive energy to pass through. Main door or the entrance, attracts positive energy in the home. Do not keep dustbins, broken chairs or stools, near the main door, cautions Kajaal Rohira, a holistic healer from Mumbai. “The area surrounding the main door, should have adequate light. Never place a mirror opposite to main entrance, which reflects the main door, as it will cause the energy to bounce back,” says Rohira. To attract energy in the house the main door should ideally be the correct direction and have an aesthetical appeal. According to Vastu shastra , the main door of the home is from where there is entrance of family members, people and most importantly energy- happiness and good luck! Hence the main door is of utmost importance asit lets in cosmic energy bringing health, wealth and harmony, keeping out energy which is not beneficial. Moreover, the placement of the main door matters! As per vastu ,the main door should ideally be in the - north or west. Main doors in the south or south west can be corrected by placing a metal pyramid and lead helix. A door in the south east direction can be correctedby using a copper helix. To reduce the ill effects of southwest entrance houses, paint or place stickers of Om, Trishul, and Swastika symbols on the sides and top of the main door. To attract positive energy, keep plants and hang wind chimes around the main door. Also, one can paint Gayatri mantra or paste a small sticker of the mantra on the main door. Place a Panchmukhi Hanumanji (standing posture) with his weapon (gada) in the left hand on the centre top of the main door.
Place the laughing Buddha facing the inside of the house, diagonally opposite or facing the main door. The energy entering the house from the main door is welcomed by the laughing Buddha and unwanted energy is cleansed
another point to,remember is that the main door should be bigger than any other in the house. the main, door shold open in a clockwise manner.
A wooden door is most auspicious for main door in any direction, however, if the door is in the south direction it should have a combination of wood and metal.
if the main door is in the west it too should have metal work.
The most auspicious colours for the main door, based on its Vastu direction to bring happiness and good luck are as follows: West: Blue and white. South and south-east: Silver, orange and pink. South-west: Yellow. North: Green. North-east: Cream and yellow. North-west: White and cream. East: White, wooden colours or light blue. Do not paint the main door in black colour. Both, Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui principles suggest that the main door should be prominent, visible and easily identifiable. Adding your house number or even your name are good ways to make the main door entrance stand out. It is also better to have a simple nameplate on the door, rather than going in for engravings or ornamentation. Avoid hanging things behind the main door.
The home entrance decor of your house greatly increases if you go for aesthetically designed doors. However, you must avoid sliding doors at the entrance of your home. Even circular-shaped doors must not be used. They may look fashionable but do not abide by the rules of Vastu. Stick to simple, superior quality door for the entrance. Wood is a preferred choice and it is also said to correct any dosha.
